Lufthansa commence new twice daily service to Hamburg from Birmingham Airport

Lufthansa has teamed up with regional subsidiary Eurowings
and Birmingham Airport to launch a new service to Hamburg
which commenced today, Wednesday 2 May 2012, and which
will operate twice daily on weekdays and once at weekends
.
This service is followed by a new daily Lufthansa flight to
Berlin, which will come into effect in early June, to coincide
with the opening of the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport,
meaning flying out to Germany has never been easier
.
Christian Schindler, Lufthansa’s General Manager for UK &
Ireland, said: "As well as offering passengers quick and easy
access to many of the main German cities, we continue to
ensure that our flights to and from Birmingham offer the
shortest possible onward connection times to our worldwide
network through our main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich,
as well as our developing mini-hub at Dusseldorf"
.
Martyn Lloyd, Head of Air Service Development at
Birmingham Airport, said: "This addition to our summer
flight schedule is great news for people in Birmingham and
the wider region. By making major European cities such
as Hamburg and Berlin more accessible, it will also benefit
the business community here in the Midlands and
contribute towards helping the UK economy as a whole"
