December 2012 passenger figures at Birmingham

easyJet, flybe and Monarch have all launched new services from Birmingham in recent months

Birmingham Airport handled 532,216 passengers during December 2012
- an increase of 4.2% on the previous year

As a result BHX handled 8,926,275 passengers in 2012, an increase of 3.5% on 2011
- the top three destinations from Birmingham in 2012 were Dublin, Dubai and Amsterdam

Top 10 scheduled routes from Birmingham in 2012 -
Dublin, Dubai, Amsterdam, Paris, Belfast, Edinburgh,
Malaga, Alicante, Frankfurt and Glasgow

Top 10 charter/IT routes from Birmingham in 2012 -
Tenerife, Palma, Dalaman, Sharm el Sheikh, Arrecife,
Corfu, Paphos, Antalya, Zakinthos and Ibiza

December was another satisfactory month with good percentage increases across
a wide range of destinations - Istanbul is up 40.6% - and the new routes/services
that have started in recent months including easyJet to Belfast International, flybe
to Amsterdam, Monarch to Grenoble, SAS to Stockholm and a number of new
Ryanair routes/services have all added to the overall performance

After a number of challenging years 2012 has seen a return to a steady monthly
increase in the passenger and the new routes/services already planned should
ensure this continues into 2013

During December significant growth was achieved on scheduled flights to destinations such
as - Grenoble 166.1%, Sharm el Sheikh 143.5%, Barcelona 100.0%, Rzeszow 67.8%,
Hamburg 57.8%, Istanbul 40.6%, Munich 22.2%, Las Palmas 22.1% and Inverness 19.8%

Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Italy 58.4%, Finland 44.3% and Tunisia 39.4%

Scheduled traffic accounted for 88.3% of the total passenger traffic in December
whilst charter passengers made up the remaining 11.7%
