October 2013 passengers at Birmingham Airport‏‏

Birmingham Airport handled 830,370 passengers during October 2013 
- an increase of 4.3% on the previous year
    
Yet another excellent month driven by a continued growth in long haul passengers
- traffic to Asia was up 25.5% following the recent launch of the new services by
Air Blue to Islamabad and Lahore and Air India to Amritsar and Delhi

Emirates, who have many onward connecting services to India and East Asia,
achieved an increase of 10.2% despite the added competition in this market
while Turkish Airlines who also carry a lot of onward connecting passengers
reported a further 19.2% increase on their service to Istanbul

The month also saw the start of the winter schedules with capacity increases
on a number of routes and the arrival of Germanwings who have taken over
the services from Berlin Tegel and Hamburg from Lufthansa
  
During October significant growth was achieved
on scheduled flights to destinations such as -
Islamabad 40.6%, Waterford 31.1%, Stuttgart 21.1%,
Istanbul 19.2%, Bodrum 16.9%, Heraklion 15.4%,
Rome 14.5%, Dublin 11.1% and Dubai 10.2%

 
Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Malta 104.1%, Tunisia 52.7% and Turkey 18.7%
  
Scheduled traffic accounted for 83.3% of the total passenger traffic
in October whilst charter passengers made up the remaining 16.7%
