September 2014 passengers at Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport handled 1,008,859 passengers during September 2014
- an increase of 3.4% on the previous year

Another solid result and the third consecutive month that the passengers
numbers have exceeded one million although the total fell just short of the
1,023,111 achieved in 2005 which remains the record September - the airport
however remains of track for a record year for the first time since 2008

The summer has seen a major expansion of services by flybe with new routes to
Alicante, Bordeaux, Cologne, Florence, Ibiza, Newquay, Palma, Porto, Reykjavik
and Toulouse with Berlin, Hamburg and Oslo due to be added for the coming winter


During September significant growth was achieved
on scheduled flights to destinations such as -
Milan 67.0%, Ashkhabad 51.2%, Copenhagen 47.7%
Stuttgart 47.5%, Shannon 44.8%, Hannover 42.8%,
Dublin 24.9%, Amsterdam 20.0%, Frankfurt 11.0%,
Dusseldorf 6.8%, Istanbul 3.6% and Dubai 2.1% 


Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Italy 43.9%, Cyprus 14.9% and Portugal 12.3%
    
Scheduled traffic accounted for 77.8% of the total
passenger traffic in September whilst charter
passengers made up the remaining 22.2%
