Birmingham Airport handled 496,817 passengers during January 2013

As a result of the later and in these days of "flexible schedules" more and more airlines and
Tour Operators now reduce their flights at off peak times which only makes things worse
February - and in particular the "Half Term" holiday - has started strongly with many
scheduled service upgrades as well as some extra IT/charter flights being added and
the prospects for the year ahead remain encouraging
During January significant growth was achieved on scheduled flights to destinations such
as - Sharm el Sheikh 151.0%, Hamburg 107.0%, Rzeszow 64.6%, Grenoble 55.8%,
Istanbul 40.8% and Bydgoszcz 24.3%
Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Tunisia 24.6%, Austria 19.4% and Bulgaria 17.9%
Scheduled traffic accounted for 85.7% of the total passenger traffic in January
whilst charter passengers made up the remaining 14.3%
