Birmingham Airport handled 533,144 passengers during February 2013
- an increase of 0.6% on the previous year
2012 was a leap year/29 day month so this represents a 3.8% underlying
increase on a comparable basis
The month was helped by a strong performance during the "Half Term"
holiday with many scheduled service upgrades including the first planned
use by Air France of Airbus A321's on their service to Paris CDG

The many new routes/services that have started in recent months including
easyJet to Belfast International, flybe to Amsterdam, Monarch to Grenoble,
Ryanair to a number of new destinations and SAS to Stockholm have all helped
while the Turkish service to Istanbul continues to go from strength to strength
During February significant growth was achieved on scheduled flights to destinations
such as - Sharm el Sheikh 179.9%, Grenoble 109.1%, Hamburg 107.0%,
Rzeszow 46.2%, Istanbul 45.2%, and Milan 29.7%
Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Austria 22.8%, Spain 21.3% and Mexico 16.0%
Scheduled traffic accounted for 86.1% of the total passenger traffic in February
whilst charter passengers made up the remaining 13.9%
