The Airport Fire Service were on hand to mark the celebration of
the 15th anniversary of United Airlines service to Birmingham....

.... with a water cannon salute as Boeing 757-224 N17128 taxied
for departure back to Newark, New York, as the "UA 027"....
.
.... with the early morning sun creating a rainbow!

Swiftair Embraer Brasilia EC-HTS which is normally a
nocturnal visitor operating the FedEx Feeder flight
from/to Belfast International failed to depart and spent the

Air Finland Boeing 757-28A OH-AFJ positioned out under an
Astraeus flight number to Mariehamn in the Aland Islands to
collect the Isle of Man team after the 2009 "NatWest Island Games"

US Airways Boeing 757-2B7 N939UW operated their service to Philadelphia.
Continental Boeing 757-224 N18112 operated their flight to Newark
.Lufthansa Canadair CRJ-701ER D-ACPJ operated their morning
service from Frankfurt - it is now wearing additional "50 Jahre"
titles to mark the 50th anniversary of Lufthansa Cityline

Monday 24 May 2010 - Delta Boeing 757-251 N544US diverts in due to Manchester security alert

Delta Boeing 757-251 N544US operating flight "DL 154" from
New York JFK was one of a number of aircraft to divert into
BHX when Manchester Airport was closed by a security alert....
.
.... after refueling it continued onto Manchester
.
The other two diversions were Continental Boeing 757-224 N17133
operating flight "CO 020" from Newark....
.
.... and Saga Airlines Boeing 737-86J TC-SGI which was in an all
white scheme with just a small "Istanbul - European Capital of
Culture" sticker by the front passenger door
.
Tailwind Airlines Boeing 737-4Q8 TC-TLC operated the KTHY
Cyprus Turkish Airlines flight from Dalaman and Ercan in
Northern Cyprus - the first visit of this Turkish airline to BHX
.
Viking Boeing 737-86N SE-RHX which had positioned in on
Sunday afternoon operated their weekly flight to northen Iraq
.
Citation CJ2 YU-BUU was an evening visitor to the Elmdon apron

Wednesday 13 May 2009 - US Airways operate their inaugural Boeing 757 service to Philadelphia

US Airways Boeing 757 N201UU lifts off Runway 15 on the inaugural
service to Philadelphia after arriving earlier at a rather brighter BHX!

The departure gate was opened by the US Airways cabin crew helped
by Paul Kehoe, CEO of BHX (left) and Stephen Raeder of US Airways

The departure of the inaugural flight was marked by a water canon
salute by the Fire Service - unfortunately it was raining as well!

US Airways will now be operating from Phildelphia five times

Monday 11 December 2017 - Seeing double Emirates Airbus A380s as 4 visit after Sundays snowfall

Emirates Airbus A380-861 A6-EOY operated their lunchtime flight from Dubai landing as
A380-842 A6-EUY which had diverted to Manchester the previous day was still boarding

As no stand was available A380 A6-EOY then had to hold on Taxiway Alpha while a
number of following arrivals landed and then backtracked down Runway 33 to pass it

Emirates Airbus A380-842 A6-EUY was soon on its way albeit nearly 24 hours late....

.... departing to Dubai and causing its own snowstorm as it lifted off Runway 33

As a result of Sunday's diversions both of which went to Manchester and then returned
today/Monday a total of 4 Emirates Airbus A380s operated through Birmingham -
1030/1230 EK39D/8040 388 from Manchester/to Dubai A6-EUY
- return of flight diverted on Sunday - Emirates
1125/1330 EK039/040 388 from/to Dubai A6-EOY
- planned aircraft allocation - Emirates
1730/1930 EK37D/8038 388 from Manchester/to Dubai A6-EOX
- return of flight diverted on Sunday - Emirates
1845/2050 EK037/038 388 from/to Dubai A6-EDJ
- planned aircraft allocation - Emirates

Above are "planned times - the final flight did not depart until after 0200 Tuesday morning!

Icelandair Boeing 757-23N TF-FIC operated their flight from Reykjavik Keflavik going on
an extended airport tour on arrival due to a number stands still being blocked by snow

Jet2 Boeing 737-8K5 G-GDFX positioned in from Belfast to operate their flight to Krakow
as they brought in additional capacity to catch up after Sunday's snow related delays

Jet2 Boeing 737-86Q G-GDFY operated their flight to Tenerife

SAS Airbus A321-232 OY-KBE operated their morning service to Copenhagen
after their Sunday afternoon service was cancelled due to the snow

easyJet Airbus A320-214 G-EZWY operated their flight from Geneva
as they increased their schedule for the start of the ski season

easyJet Airbus A320-214 G-EZRD operated their mid-morning service to Belfast International

flybe Dash 8Q-402 G-FLBD taxy's to the terminal from the Monarch Aircraft Engineering hangar

Air Taxi Europe Cessna 406 Caravan II D-IFFF was an afternoon arrival
on the Elmdon apron - the Germans don't let a little snow stop them!!

the return flight of their second weekend break trip to New York

Lufthansa Regional Embraer 190LR D-AECG operated their morning service to Frankfurt

Swiss Airbus A320-214 HB-IJS operated their morning service to Zurich

LGW Dash 8Q-402 D-ABQM, which is still in Air Berlin colours,
operated the early morning Eurowings service to Dusseldorf
