It has been a great aviation weekend at Birmingham! - on the return of the final flight
on Monday afternoon Biman/the Airport Company held a Press Conference on the DC10
and I took the opportunity of thanking Kevin Steele - Biman's CEO - on behalf of the whole
aviation enthusiast community for bringing the DC10 to BHX and letting so many have a
final flight on it - I know people have visited Birmingham from all over the world to fly in
/photograph/see the DC10 and its fair to say Biman/BHX have faced a few challenges
in delivering an event of this nature in our regulated world!

DC10-30 S2-ACR is the last remaining passenger DC10 in airline service and to mark this
historic occasion Biman Bangladesh Airlines have arranged to operate a series of DC10
"scenic flights" on Saturday/Sunday/Monday 22/23/24 February 2014 with the final flight
at 1500 on Monday 24 February 2014 being the last ever opportunity to fly as a passenger
in the Douglas DC10 - more information here

The "Birmingham Airport Photo Blog" flew on the aircraft back from Dhaka and a full trip report
will follow in due course - the Bengali service of BBC World were also on the flight and their

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Douglas DC10-30 S2-ACR is coming to Birmingham Airport on its farewell tour - one hour "Scenic Flights" from BHX still available

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will be operating their final scheduled Douglas DC10
flight on Thursday 20 February 2014 from Dhaka via Kuwait to Birmingham

This flight will be operated by DC10-30 S2-ACR which is the last remaining
passenger DC10 in airline service and also the final one to come off the
Long Beach, California production line in 1988

To mark this historic occasion Biman Bangladesh Airlines have arranged
to operate a series of DC10 "scenic flights" from Birmingham Airport on
Saturday/Sunday/Monday 22/23/24 February 2014 with the final flight
being the last ever opportunity to fly as a passenger in the Douglas DC10

Seats on the "Scenic Flights" from Birmingham Airport are still available
via the Biman Bangladesh Airlines www site "click" here and prices start
from £100 for the one hour flight

On completion of these flights the aircraft will ferry to Bruntingthorpe
in Leicestershire where it will be preserved in the aviation museum

In summary the schedule for Douglas DC10-30 S2-ACR is as follows -

THURSDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2014 

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Douglas DC10-30 S2-ACR to operate its final
scheduled flight "BG 1015" routing Dhaka - Kuwait for tech stop - to
Birmingham Airport with a scheduled arrival time of 1620

FRIDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2014 

Rest day - aircraft parked up at Birmingham Airport on Stand 86C

SATURDAY/SUNDAY/MONDAY 22/23/24 FEBRUARY 2014

One hour "Scenic Flights" planned to operate from Birmingham Airport at
0900, 1200 and 1500 on each day - the last flight - 1500 on 24 February 2014
will be the final Douglas DC10 passenger flight although of course the type
remains in service as a freighter and with the military

TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY 2014

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Douglas DC10-30 S2-ACR makes its final flight
from Birmingham Airport to Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome where it will be
preserved in the aviation museum

a shop selling this in the "Flight School" - former main terminal viewing area

- on the days that the "Scenic Flights" operate from Birmingham Airport
