having replaced EC-HTS which had operated the service since
it started at the end of March 2012 on Monday evening

Turkish Airlines to increase Birmingham Airport to Istanbul service to 10 flights a week!!

Turkish Airlines will be increasing the frequency
of their Istanbul to Birmingham service to 10 flights
a week from the start of the summer 2013 schedules
Turkish Airlines increased the frequency of their
Birmingham service to daily with effect for
Sunday 25 March 2012 so the frequency
of the service will have doubled within a year

charter flight to Rome - its first visit to BHX - while....

second Alitalia student charter of the day from Rome
Brit Air Canadair CRJ 1000 F-HMLD operated the evening
Air France service from Paris CDG - its first visit to BHX and
bringing to an end 61 consecutive daily visits by F-HMLA
on this service!

Sunday 29 July 2012 - Air Berlin Boeing 737 D-ABMB marks Borussia Dortmund "double"

Air Berlin Boeing 737-86J D-ABMB is currently wearing additional
titles "Real love BVB - Double winner 2012" marking the success
of Borussia Dortmund winning the German football "double"....
.... D-ABMB operated their weekly flight to Paderborn
Air France Airbus A318-111 F-GUGI - which is in their "new"
colour scheme - operated their afternoon service to Paris
luxaviation Challenger 604 LX-MDA which had arrived on
Saturday remained parked up on the Elmdon apron....
.... and was joined by Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner's
Falcon 7X N85DN which was an early morning arrival

Birmingham Airport out and about in the community at "Sheldon Countryside Festival"

Birmingham Airport was out and about in the local community
on Sunday when members of the Community and Environment
team attended the annual "Sheldon Countryside Festival"....
.... which is held in Sheldon Country Park which runs along the
North West boundary of the airport site. Local residents could
enter a free competition and also ask the team questions

BHX - they have recently acquired this aircraft to ferry
engineers around to fix "tech" aircraft and it operated
from/to Stansted so they could attend to a Boeing 737

BA Cityflyer Embraer 190-100LR G-LCYO positioned in from
Glasgow to operate an IT flight to Palma - its first visit to BHX
Air Berlin Boeing 737-86J D-ABKC operated their flight
to Hannover - it was also on its first visit to BHX
Lufthansa Regional Embraer 195LR D-AEBQ operated their
morning service to Munich - it had arrived on Friday evening
on its first visit to BHX
Ryanair Boeing 737-8AS EI-EBK operated their morning service
to Dublin - it wears additional "City of Nykoping" titles

Emirates Boeing 777-31HER operated their evening
service from Dubai - its first visit to BHX
Citation Sovereign D-CYOU was an afternoon arrival
parking up to night stop on the Elmdon apron

Armavia resume weekly service from Birmingham to Yerevan and onto India

Armavia have resumed their service from Birmingham to
Yerevan with the flights now offering direct connections
onto Amritsar, India....
.... Armavia first operated from Birmingham in September
2010 - see here for more information - but the flights had
to be suspended because of issues over Traffic Rights
Flights will now depart Birmingham for Yerevan at 1125
on Wednesday's and will offer a direct connection onto
Amritsar - the return flight arrives at 1025 on Wednesday
Initially the flights will operate on a weekly basis but are
expected to increase for the peak winter season

- this was the first visit of an Armavia Airbus A320 to BHX
Global Express VP-CEO was an early morning arrival from Luton
for parking during the London 2012 Olympics

flybe announces new three times daily service between Birmingham and Amsterdam

flybe will be commencing a three times daily service
from Birmingham to Amsterdam on Sunday 28 October 2012
- the route was formerly operated by bmibaby
Initially the route will be operated three times a day
using Dash 8Q-400's and takes to 24 the number of
flybe routes serving Birmingham
Andrew Strong, Flybe UK Managing Director comments:
"Flybe is committed to developing its route network out
of Birmingham and we have every confidence that our
new service with its convenient timings will prove
successful in offering an attractive and affordable way
for travellers to access this vital international hub"
Martyn Lloyd, Commercial Director, Birmingham Airport,

Monarch celebrated the launch of their new flights to Barcelona
and Nice by commissioning the design of a Salvador Dali inspired
3D piece of artwork, which was unveiled to passengers at
Birmingham Airport today/Friday 20 July 2012
