Fedex commence Boeing 757F operations from Birmingham Airport to Paris CDG
FedEx Express (FX) commenced Boeing 757F servicesfrom Birmingham on Monday evening, 26 March 2012, when
they also started a mini hub operation at the airport....

.... from now on a Boeing 757F is operating the nightly
FedEx Express package service to Paris CDG (replacing
the Air Contractors ATR 72) while a Swiftair Brasilia
has commenced operating a feeder flight from Belfast
International to Birmingham - both flights operate each
weekday evening - with the packages from Belfast being
transferred onto pallets to continue to Paris CDG
when the Boeing 757F arrives from Manchester
.
The Swiftair Brasilia remains at BHX (overnight) until the
Boeing 757F returns from Paris CDG in the early hours of
the following morning when the above process is repeated
in reverse and the Brasilia returns to Belfast International
while the Boeing 757F continues onto Manchester
.

Birmingham Airport awards electric bus contract to Volvo Bus UK to supply six 7900e single deck buses

| Birmingham Airport has awarded Volvo Bus UK the contract to supply the airport with six 7900e
single deck electric buses. Launching in November 2019, the ultra-low emission buses will operate
as the free passenger transport service via all airport car park routes The decision to introduce electric buses came as a result of a review undertaken by the airport into its future vehicle provision. The Volvo 7900e will provide an 80% lower energy consumption than an equivalent sized diesel bus. Two high level charging points will be installed outside of the terminal. Additional plug-in charging points will be located in the coach park - and in the future, these will be made available for other electric bus and or coach operators to use Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport said: "This partnership is a key milestone for us. We are always investigating new and innovative ways to reduce our carbon emissions and through the partnership with Volvo Bus UK, we will do just this" "We have made significant customer service improvements across the airport to increase capacity and improve passenger experience, with the vision of positioning Birmingham as one of Europe's leading regional airports. The electric buses form part of this vision, not to mention their sustainability benefits being ultra-low emission. Since 2012 the Airport has reduced its CO2 per passenger by 20%. Implementing the six electric buses will work towards lowering this even further which is just fantastic" Nick Page, Managing Director of Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, said: "It is very exciting that the 7900e has been chosen for Birmingham Airport in support of its ambition to provide the best possible environmentally friendly bus service for airport customers and stakeholders alike" "Over the last 15 months the 7900e has undertaken a UK wide demonstration tour where it has shown the contribution that can now be made to improving air quality in the areas where it has been in service. Birmingham Airport celebrate "International Women's Day 2019" based on the theme of #BalancedforBetter

Birmingham Airport celebrated "International Women's Day" on Friday 8 March 2019 with
a series of activities running across the Airport based on the official theme #BalancedforBetter
This year's #IWD2019 is about raising awareness against bias and taking action for equality, with emphasis being placed on how a gender-balanced world is better for all. To celebrate women's achievements, Birmingham Airport reached out to some of its most inspiring female employees to share the reasons why International Women's Day is important to them. A series of videos have been captured and shared across the Airport's social media channels, showcasing achievements made by women across the business Angela Fisher, Payroll Manager at Birmingham Airport, joined in September 1983 making her the Airport's longest standing female employee. Angela started as a trainee in the post room, later securing a vacancy in the payroll department where she took on the title of Clerical Assistant. In 2006 she was promoted to Payroll Manager and has worked in the same role to this very day Kirstin Kane, Head of Sustainability at Birmingham Airport, joined in October 2000 at the age of 16. Kirstin started as a trainee in the HR department originally, but as the Airport shifted its focus to sustainability and the environment, there was a need to recruit in this area. Kirstin took on the role of Trainee Environmental Officer gaining on the job training, as well as a series of Diplomas and Degrees to build on her knowledge Kay Hodgkisson, Customer Experience and Standards Manager at Birmingham Airport has worked in various roles for 20 years. Starting her career as a check-in agent at 18 years of age, Kay moved onto various roles eventually joining the Birmingham Airport Customer Service team, as a Passenger Services Manager. After four years, Kay was promoted to her current role where she leads the Customer Experience Operational team |
