Monarch, the leading scheduled leisure airline, celebrated its first flight to Gibraltar
from Birmingham on Saturday 23 March 2013 and three lucky passengers were
greeted at check-in with a glass of champagne and a free flight voucher
Wendy, Jim and Sheila Palmer, were the first passengers to book on to the new flight
to Gibraltar, which will operate three times a week. For summer 2013 there are now
over 27,000 seats available on the new Birmingham to Gibraltar route; this is the
first of three new routes Monarch is launching from Birmingham Airport. Services
to Bordeaux and Split will both launch on 22nd May 2013

Commenting on the new summer flights from Birmingham Airport, Monarch Airlines’
Managing Director, Kevin George, said: "We are delighted to be celebrating the
departure of our first flight to Gibraltar, part of our route network expansion for
summer 2013. Gibraltar has always been a popular route for Monarch Airlines’
passengers and it’s great now that we can offer this service from the West Midlands"
