in on Tuesday morning departed on a charter to Barcelona

Wednesday 28 April 2010 - Cello's new Avro Business Jet G-RAJJ makes first visit to BHX!!

Cello Aviation's "Avro Business Jet" BAe 146-200 G-RAJJ
made its first visit to BHX arriving from Southend....
.... and parking on the Elmdon apron
.... to be welcomed by Cello's Birmingham based staff
The aircraft has a 46 VIP interior and will be available for charter

Atlantic Airlines Lockheed Electra G-LOFC which had arrived
on Saturday was a morning departure to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen
on its way to Abu Dhabi....
.... climbing away off Runway 33
CityLine Hungary Antonov 26 HA-TCN which had spent the weekend
parked on the Elmdon apron departed to Stravanger, Norway
Titan BAe 146-200QC G-ZAPK positioned in from Stansted
to operate a charter flight to Berlin Schoenefeld
FAI Learjet 45 D-CFAI which had arrived in the early hours
of the morning operating an air ambulance flight positioned
out to Nuremburg

Sunday 25 April 2010 - Euro Atlantic Boeing 767 CS-TFS diverts in from Manchester

Euro Atlantic Boeing 767-3Y0ER CS-TFS was an operational
diversion while operating a Banjul - Manchester repatriation
flight for Thomas Cook as they caught up following the airspace
closures caused by the Volcanic Ash Cloud....
.... after offloading the passengers it positioned out to Faro
Turkish Boeing 737-752 TC-JKN operated their flight to Istanbul
- the second Turkish 737-700 to visit BHX
Thomas Cook Boeing 757-3CQ G-JMAA positioned in from Gatwick
to operate an early season IT flight to Dalaman in Turkey

Saturday 24 April 2010 - Air Armenia Antonov 12 EK-11001 charter to BHX!!

The after effects of the Volcanic Ash Cloud resulted in an exotic
movement to BHX - Air Armenia Antonov 12BK EK-11001
brought in a consignment of urgent freight that had been stranded
in Johannesburg routing via Luanda and Tamanrassett in Algeria
and arriving in the early hours of Saturday morning
After spending the day parked on the Elmdon apron....
.... it positioned out to Luxembourg lifting off Runway 15....
.... and climbing away as only an Antonov 12 can!!
Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-752 TC-JKJ operated their service
from Istanbul - the first visit of a Turkish 737-700 to BHX
PIA Boeing 777-340ER AP-BID operated their service to Islamabad
- its first visit to BHX since it was painted in their new colour scheme
Arcus Air Dornier 228 d-CAAM was an afternoon arrival operating
a priority freight charter from Egelsbach in Germany

Friday 23 April 2010 - RAF C17 ZZ175 morning visitor on medevac flight

RAF C 17 ZZ175 was a morning visitor operating a medevac
flight and departing to Brize Norton off Runway 15

Wednesday 21 April 2010 - Ash cloud? - Birmingham Airport is back in business!!

After clearance was granted on Tuesday evening to reopen UK
airspace the race was on to restart operations - first departure
(with passengers) from BHX on Wednesday morning was
Monarch flight ZB 402 to Faro which was operated by
Airbus A321-231 G-OZBG - well done to Monarch
for having 3 of the first 4 departures from Birmingham ....
.... and to Tim and Lucy from the "Express and Star" for
being on hand to catch the first departure
which earned them a copy of the "BHX Flight Guide"!!
Monarch Airbus A321-231 G-OZBG lifts off Runway 33 on its way
to Faro - the first departure since Thursday 15 April 2010! - the
race was then on to repatriate all the stranded passengers....
.... Lufthansa used CityLine Embraer 195LR D-AEBB to operate
their afternoon service to Munich - its first visit to BHX - in
place of the usual Canadair CRJ 900 while....
.... Turkish Airlines laid on two extra flight to repatriate passengers
stranded in Istanbul - Airbus A321-231 TC-JRB was an evening
arrival with 321 TC-JML operating an (extra) lunchtime service
Eurocypria Boeing 737-8BK 5B-DBZ operated their
much delayed IT flight to Paphos
Hawker 850XP G-CERX was an overnight arrival
spending the day parked on the Elmdon apron....
.... while Eurojet Citation XLS G-KPEI was an afternoon visitor
operating a training flight

Tuesday 20 April 2010 - Day 4 of the Volcanic Ash Cloud

Giles Latcham of BBC "Midlands Today" was on hand to give
live updates on the impact of the Volcanic Ash Cloud on
operations from Birmingham....
.... and find out how local aviation enthusiasts were coping with the
closure of UK airspace and the resulting lack of aircraft....
.... actually there were plenty of those - just not going anywhere!

Saturday 17 April 2010 - Day 3 of the Volcanic Ash Cloud

The setting sun turns red as it decends into the Volcanic Ash....
WARNING - do not look directly into the sun with a camera etc
On Saturday the sun turns a dark red
A "brighter" sun set the day before
Meanwhile the aircraft are still going nowhere!
