Thursday 24 June 2010 - RAF VC 10 C1K XV106 visits the Elmdon apron while operating a Medevac flight

RAF VC 10 C1K XV106 was an afternoon arrival....
.
.... operating a Medevac flight and parking on the Elmdon apron
. After offloading it departed off Runway 33 to Brize Norton....
.
.... in the usual manner expected of a VC 10!!
. British Airways Airbus A320-232 G-TTOE positioned in
from Heathrow to operate a charter flight to Dubrovnik
.Nouvelair Tunisie Airbus A320-212 TS-INN again operated
the weekly Koral Blue IT flight from Sharm el Sheikh
.
Cobham Flight Inspection Super King Air B200 G-FPLB
spent the day checking the Runway 33 ILS
.
Air Charter Scotland Citation CJ2 G-OODM was
a lunchtime visitor to the Elmdon apron
.
Netjets Citation XLS CS-DQB was an evening arrival
parking up to nightstop on the Elmdon apron

Friday 5 April 2013 - RAF VC10 C1K XR808 performs a "touch and go" to Runway 33 at Birmingham!!


RAF VC10 C1K XR808 made an approach and touch and go to Runway 33....

.... the aircraft wears the special "50 years of VC10 flying - 1962-2012" and
"101 Squadron 95th anniversary 1917-2012" titles Photos Brett Allen

The aircraft rolled along the runway....

.... and just kept rolling passed the Airport Fire Station

.... before rotating again as it passed Taxiway Kilo

RAF VC10 K3 ZA147 performed a "touch and go" at Birmingham Airport just after 1535 as
it operated its final flight from RAF Brize Norton to Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire - this 
was the last flight of a VC10 a type that had first flown on 29 June 1962 Photo: Mike Hollick

Friday 20 September 2013 - RAF VC10 K3 ZA147 performs fly past at Birmingham Airport

RAF VC10 K3 ZA147 performed a fly past at Birmingham Airport just after 1335....

.... as the Royal Air Force withdrew their last two VC10s from front line service Photo: Mike Hollick

.... this was marked by a final flying tour of the UK - details here Photo: Mark Presswood

.... with BHX having had a long association with the RAF VC10 because of the medevac flights
that arrive at the airport with patients on their way to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine
at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham

.... while it was a grey afternoon the VC10 did climb away into the sun!

Monday 29 July 2013 - RAF VC10 C1K XR808 makes final flypast at BHX on its way to Bruntingthorpe

RAF VC10 C1K XR808 made an approach and go around to Runway 15 during the morning....

.... the aircraft was on its final flight en-route from RAF Brize Norton to Bruntingthorpe

.... where it will be preserved - its had originally been planned that this aircraft would go
to the RAF Museum at Cosford - the aircraft wears a "101 Squadron" tail insignia

Aer Arann/Aer Lingus Regional ATR 72-600 EI-FAT operated their early morning service
to Dublin after arriving the previous evening on its first visit to BHX

Wednesday 20 March 2013 - Another day - another RAF VC10 makes a flypast at Birmingham Airport!!

RAF VC10 K3 ZA148/"G" made an approach and go around to Runway 33 at lunchtime....
   
.... while on a training flight out of RAF Brize Norton

.... the second VC10 to visit BHX in three days! Photo: Mike Hollick

.... this time performing a flypast with the undercarriage down before climbing away
and returning to RAF Brize Norton - maybe still not the last visit of a VC10 to BHX!?

Exin Antonov 26B SP-FDS was an afternoon arrival from Brno operating a priority freight charter....

.... after unloading it was soon on its way again departing to Hahn

Swiftair Embraer Brasilia EC-JBD which had gone "tech" in the morning was
an evening departure back to Belfast International

Thomson Boeing 737-8K5 G-TAWN operated their weekly IT flight to Enfidha - its first visit to BHX

Monday 18 March 2013 - RAF VC10 K3 ZA149/"H" makes final flypast at BHX on way to Bruntingthorpe

RAF VC10 K3 ZA149/"H" made an approach and go around to Runway 33 at lunchtime....

.... the aircraft was en-route from RAF Brize Norton to Bruntingthorpe where it is due to be
scrapped and the flypast marked the long association between the RAF and the airport

... which has seen many VC10's visit over the years on both medevac and trooping flights

.... the aircraft climbs away with the Elmdon ATC Tower in the foreground - given that the VC10
is now going out of RAF service this is likely to be the final visit of a VC10 to BHX - things change!!
