Thursday 25 February 2010 - West Atlantic BAe ATP G-BTPH under repair on the Elmdon apron

West Atlantic BAe ATP G-BTPH spent the day parked on the
Elmdon apron receiving attention from their engineers - it had
diverted in during the early hours of the morning while operating
the nightly Newcastle to Bristol Royal Mail flight
.
SAS MD 82 SE-DIS operated their morning service to Copenhagen
in place of the usual Canadair CRJ 900

Tuesday 23 February 2010 - First visit of winglet equipped Thomson Boeing 767

Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304ER G-OBYG - which has now had
winglets fitted - positioned in to operate their weekly flight to
Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic - this was the first visit
of a "76W" in Thomson colours

Viking Boeing 737-36N SE-RHU positioned in from Gatwick
to replace SE-RHT (which had gone tech at BHX) and operate
their weekly flight to Northern Iraq
.
The new Agusta A109E Power G-RSCU of the Warwickshire &
Northamptonshire Air Ambulance made three ILS approaches
and go arounds to Runway 15 during the morning
.
Maldivian Air Taxi/Kenn Borek Air Twin Otter C-FAKB spent the
day parked on the Elmdon apron after arriving from Keflavik in
the early hours of the morning. It departed to Dubrovnik shortly
after midnight/early Wednesday only to suffer an electrical fire

Monday 22 February 2010 - Wizz Air Airbus A320's HA-LPD and LZ-WZB divert in from Luton

Seeing double Wizz....!! - snow at Luton (and Stansted)
resulted in a number of morning diversions....

to where it later positioned back to....

.... while Airbus A320-232 LZ-WZB arrived from Sofia later
positioning onto Luton

Eastern Saab 2000 G-CERZ operated the first of a series of charters
to Grosseto, Italy, in connection with the dealer launch of the new
Jaguar XJ the titles for which appear on the forward fuselage....
.
.... it was an early departure from a crowded Elmdon apron!

SAS Airbus A319-131 OY-KBO operated their afternoon service
from Copenhagen in place of the usual Canadair CRJ 900....

.... the aircraft is in their "retro" colour scheme
.
KLM cityhopper Fokker 70 PH-KZL operated their morning
"KL 1421" service from Amsterdam - from Monday 22 February
2010 this flight will be operated by an Embraer 190

Saturday 20 February 2010 - Atlantic Airlines Electra G-LOFC goes on training flight

Atlantic Airlines Lockheed Electra G-LOFC which is now fully
serviceable again went off on a training flight returning....
.
.... to park on the Elmdon apron....
.
.... doing a U turn in the afternoon sun
.
.
.
.... it had earlier departed to Doncaster Sheffield Airport
.
PIA Boeing 777-240ER AP-BHX operated their service from
Islamabad - it wears the Quetta - "Nature's Orchard" tail scheme
.
Austrian Arrows Fokker 70 OE-LFJ operated their
weekly IT flight from Innsbruck

Friday 19 February 2010 - the snow returns!!

Overnight snow closed the airport trapping a number of aircraft at
BHX including the PIA 777 and resulting in many diversion away
to other airports including the Thursday evening Emirates 777
which positioned back to operate its delayed flight to Dubai
.
Swiss Airbus A320-214 HB-IJJ operated their morning service to
Zurich in place of the usual Helvetic Fokker 100 to help clear the
backlog of delayed passengers....
.
.... while Aer Arran ATR 72-201 EI-REI was another aircraft that
had been trapped at the airport overnight
.
It was not only BHX that was suffering from the weather -
City Airline Embraer 145LR SE-RAC diverted in due to poor
visibility at Manchester
.
Royal Danish Air Force Hercules C-130J B-583 was a morning arrival
to collect patients off the RAF Tristar medevac flight....
.
.... departing back to Copenhagen....
. .... while RAF Tristar C2 ZE706 continued onto Brize Norton
.
Atlantic Airlines Lockheed Electra G-LOFC remained parked on
Taxiway Lima undergoing further maintenance

Thursday 18 February 2010 - Regional Embraer 190 F-HBLA flying for Air France

Regional Embraer 190-100LR F-HBLA operated the mid morning
Air France service from/to Paris CDG in place of the usual CityJet
Avro RJ85 - its first visit to BHX

Atlantic Airlines Lockheed Electra G-LOFC spent the day parked
on Taxiway Lima undergoing further maintenance....
.
.... before going for an engine run over by the Terminal on
Taxiway Echo as the snow returned to BHX!!

Mahan Air to use an Airbus A340 to BHX!!

Mahan Air (W5) are in the process of acquiring their first Airbus A340
.
The aircraft is currently being prepared for service and - subject to
final Government approval - will initially be used on their service
to Birmingham from Tehran
.

for maintenance to its No 4 engine

Eastern Airways Saab 2000 G-CDKA positioned in from
Aberdeen to operate a charter flight to Almeria, Spain
