Jet2 Boeing 737-8K2 G-GDFC which had positioned in on Monday was
an early morning departure operating a day trip charter to Krakow
.
Aer Lingus Regional/Aer Arann ATR 72-212 EI-SLN operated
the first of an additional daily service to Dublin....

.... while Monarch Airbus A320-212 G-OZBB operated their
inaugural scheduled service to Dubrovnik, Croatia
.
Thomas Cook Airbus A320-214 G-TCAD operated an inbound
IT flight from Palma before positioning out to Cardiff
.
City Airline Embraer 145EU SE-RAD operated their final
service from Gothenburg - the route is being dropped
.
Eastern Airways Embraer 145MP G-CGWV operated their evening
service to Newcastle in place of the usual Jetstream 41

Farewell to City Airline/Skyways as they end their Gothenburg service

City Airline (CF) operated their final Birmingham - Gothenburg
service on the evening of Tuesday 1 May 2012, a routes they
have operated since November 2003
.
The last flights - CF 017/018 - Gothenburg - Birmingham
- Gothenburg were operated by Embraer 145EU SE-RAD
.
City Airline were re branded as Skyways back in November
2011 via whose www site booking are now made but the
flights continued to be operated under the City Airline name
.

City Airline/Skyways to cease their Birmingham to Gothenburg service‏

City Airline (CF) - who have still to re brand as Skyways despite
their flights now only being bookable via the latter's www site -
will be ceasing their weekday evening Birmingham - Gothenburg
service with the last flight planned for Tuesday 1 May 2012
.
The route - which started back in November 2003 - has had
its up and downs over recent years - it was once twice daily -
and the regular schedule/timings changes during the early
part of 2012 clearly have not helped
.

Sunday 15 January 2012 - Turkmenistan Boeing 737 EZ-A009 operates scheduled flight

Turkmenistan Boeing 737-7GL EZ-A009 was a late afternoon
arrival operating an additional scheduled service
.
easyJet Airbus A319-111 G-EZFT operated their flight from
Grenoble - it is named "Sir George White" after the founder
of the Bristol Aeroplane Company/BAC - more info here
.
City Airline/Skyways Embraer 145LR SE-RAF operated their
flight to Gothenburg - it still wears the basic colour scheme
of former operator Dniproavia (of the Ukraine)
.Former Olympic Airlines ATR 72-212 SX-BIG and SX-BII remain
parked at the end of Taxiway Lima - unfortunately the three
further aircraft expected - SX-BIH, SX-BIK and SX-BIL - will
now not be coming to Birmingham
.

City Airline becomes Skyways

City Airline which was acquired by the owner of fellow
Swedish regional airline Skyways back in April 2011
has now assumed the Skyways brand name
.
This change has been a long time coming with many
of the City Airline aircraft having long lost their colour
scheme and titles....
.
.... hopefully it will not take as long for the aircraft
to be painted in the smart new red Skyways scheme
.
In the short term the flights are still planned to operate
as the "CF017/018" however with effect from Monday
5 December 2011 the timings on Monday to Thursday
change to lunchtime until the Christmas/New Year
holiday period when a bespoke schedule operates
.

1320/1350 CF017/018 ER3/ER4 from/to Gothenburg
- operates Monday to Thursday
1825/1900 CF017/018 ER3/ER4 from/to Gothenburg
- operates on Friday and Sunday
.

City Airline Embraer 145LR SE-RAF operated their flight
from Gothenburg only its second visit to BHX....

.... the aircraft still wears the basic colour scheme
of former operator Dniproavia (of the Ukraine)

It was another busy day for freighters on the Elmdon apron

visitor before positioning back to Norwich
.
RAF Avia Saab 340AF YL-RAG positioned out to Budapest to operate a
nightly service for Air Scorpio so will not be BHX based for a while

from Gothenburg at it resumed after its holiday break - the aircraft
is currently in an all white scheme without any titles

Monday 17 May 2010 - City Airline Embraer 145 SE-RAD makes its first visit to BHX

City Airline resumed their morning service to Gothenburg with
Embraer 145EU SE-RAD operating the flight - it first visit to BHX

The Volcanic Ash Cloud did not close the airport for long
- by 0100 on Monday morning BHX was open again with
the diverted aircraft soon on their way ....

.... while the 7 Ryanair Boeing 737-8AS's spent the morning
