Lufthansa withdaw the Boeing 737 from service - final flight to Birmingham on Saturday 29 October 2016

Lufthansa come to the end of an era this weekend when they plan
to withdraw their final 6 Boeing 737-300s from service 

The final Lufthansa Boeing 737-300 flight into Frankfurt is planned
for the evening of Saturday 29 October 2016 and we now have just
two more Boeing 737 flights planned into Birmingham -

FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER 2016

1700/1745 LH956/957 733 from/to Frankfurt
- planned aircraft allocation - Lufthansa

SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 2016

Lufthansa - who are using the hash tag #ThankYou737 to mark the
retirement - have operated the Boeing 737 - -100/200/300/400/500 -
since 1968 when they were the first operator of the type

Take off to Berlin with Lufthansa at the Birmingham Bullring this weekend

Lufthansa will be celebrating the launch of a new direct daily
service from Birmingham to Berlin on Sunday 3 June 2012,
by giving shoppers in the Birmingham Bullring the chance to
experience some real "in-flight entertainment" and win top
prizes this weekend
.
Shoppers will be invited to relax in special Lufthansa airline
seats, recreating an authentic in-flight experience. During
"the flight", pretend passengers can win return tickets from
Birmingham to Berlin, plus much more
.
The "take off and win" activity follows Lufthansa’s
announcement to launch direct daily flights from
Birmingham Airport to Berlin, from just £39 one way,
including taxes and charges. The new service
will mean Berlin is now less than two hours away
.
Jo Lloyd, Head of Brand at Birmingham Airport, said:
"Shoppers in the Bullring will be able to experience
jetting off with Lufthansa in this novel promotion of
the new Berlin route"
.

New Lufthansa service to Berlin will now operate from/to Tegal Airport

Lufthansa have confirmed that their new Birmingham to Berlin
service will be starting as planned on Sunday 3 June 2012
despite the news that the opening of the new Berlin
Brandenburg Airport has been delayed
.
The flights will now operate from/to Berlin Tegal Airport
- please see the updated schedule below which applies until
further notice - at this time there is no confirmed date for
the opening of the new Berlin Airport
.

Lufthansa commence new twice daily service to Hamburg from Birmingham Airport

Lufthansa has teamed up with regional subsidiary Eurowings
and Birmingham Airport to launch a new service to Hamburg
which commenced today, Wednesday 2 May 2012, and which
will operate twice daily on weekdays and once at weekends
.
This service is followed by a new daily Lufthansa flight to
Berlin, which will come into effect in early June, to coincide
with the opening of the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport,
meaning flying out to Germany has never been easier
.
Christian Schindler, Lufthansa’s General Manager for UK &
Ireland, said: "As well as offering passengers quick and easy
access to many of the main German cities, we continue to
ensure that our flights to and from Birmingham offer the
shortest possible onward connection times to our worldwide
network through our main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich,
as well as our developing mini-hub at Dusseldorf"
.

Lufthansa to launch daily service to Berlin Brandenburg from Birmingham Airport!!

Lufthansa have announced that they will be launching
a daily Airbus A319 service from Birmingham Airport
to Berlin on Sunday 3 June 2011 to coincide with the
opening of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport
.
Announcing the new service Karsten Benz, Lufthansa
Vice President Sales and Services Europe, said: "The
addition of direct flights to Berlin reaffirms the importance
of Birmingham within the Lufthansa network. The opening
of the new Berlin Brandenburg "Willy Brandt" Airport next
year provides new opportunities for Lufthansa to increase
its offering to Birmingham passengers"
.
"We are launching the Birmingham to Berlin service with
our lowest UK entry fare so Birmingham passengers can
fly for as little as £39 one-way and £79 return inclusive of
all taxes and charges"
.
Paul Kehoe, CEO, Birmingham Airport said: "It is fantastic
news that Lufthansa will now operate to Berlin. Lufthansa
has been a partner of the Airport for over 25 years. The
airline has had a particularly strong year at Birmingham,
with passenger numbers increasing significantly. The
relationship between Lufthansa and Birmingham Airport
will continue to grow and the launch of this route will now
complement Lufthansa’s existing routes of Dusseldorf,
Frankfurt and Munich"

The flight will operate to Berlin Brandenburg Airport daily
from Sunday 3 June 2012 using an Airbus A319 -

Lufthansa celebrates 25 years at Birmingham Airport as passenger numbers soar!!

Boeing 737-200's were initially used on the daily Frankfurt service
Lufthansa is celebrating 25 years of flights from Birmingham
today Friday 1st April 2011 by reaching new heights with
passenger figures for early 2011 showing 33.6% growth
compared with the same period last year
.
The figures, for services to Lufthansa’s connecting hubs at
Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf, were released by
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa’s General Manager in UK,
when she visited Birmingham Airport to join in
the silver anniversary celebrations
.
"This level of increase in passenger numbers has been almost
unheard of in recent years", says Marianne Sammann. "It proves
once again that the majority of air travellers want Lufthansa’s
reliable, full service offering"
.
"On 1st April 1986 Lufthansa came to Birmingham offering
13 flights a week with a daily flight to Frankfurt operated with
a Boeing 737-200 aircraft and a six days a week service to
Düsseldorf using a 28 seat Embraer 120 Brasilia aircraft.
Today we have five times as many flights and
we are using bigger aircraft
.
Recently delivered Embraer 195's are now being used on flights from Munich
"On 1st April 1986 Lufthansa came to Birmingham offering
13 flights a week with a daily flight to Frankfurt operated with
a Boeing 737-200 aircraft and a six days a week service
to Düsseldorf using a 28 seat Embraer 120 Brasilia
aircraft. Today we have five times as many flights and

"More than half of the passengers flying with Lufthansa
from Birmingham are continuing to take advantage of our
quick and easy onward connections at our hub airports"

Lufthansa’s summer timetable for 2011 offers Birmingham
passengers a choice of 65 flights a week (28 to Frankfurt,
19 to Munich and 18 to Düsseldorf) with onward connections
to 211 destinations in 84 countries in the Lufthansa network
and hundreds more available through other airlines within
the Lufthansa Airlines Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines,
bmi, Brussels Airlines and SWISS) as well as other
Star Alliance partner airlines
.

Lufthansa update - CityLine Embraer 190's and Contact Air Fokker 100's to BHX!!

While Lufthansa (LH) aircraft allocations are normally only
planned about two weeks in advance there are a couple of
significant changes coming later in the summer/year -
.
+ From Saturday 28 August 2010 the first inbound Frankfurt
service on Saturday and Sunday (only!) which is currently
operated by an Avro RJ85 will again become a CityLine
Embraer 190 operation until the end of the summer schedules
.

+ From Monday 1 November 2010 the morning Dusseldorf
service will be operated by a Contact Air Fokker 100 (in
place of the Eurowings CR7/CR9) The other Dusseldorf
flights will continue to be operated by Eurowings
.

Lufthansa to use new Embraer 190's to BHX!!

Lufthansa (LH) will be using the new Embraer 190's of regional
subsidiary Cityline on their morning service from Frankfurt
to BHX effective from Monday 1 February 2010
.
The E90's will operate flight LH 4900 - arrive 0905 - and
flight LH 4901 - depart 0945 - daily until 27 March 2010
.

December 2008 schedule changes at BHX

The start of December 2008 sees a number of schedule
changes at Birmingham Airport -
.
+ City Airline - has now suspended their morning service
from Gothenburg - it is currently planned to resume at the
start of the summer 2009 schedules
.
+ Eurowings/Lufthansa have reverted to a Canadair
CRJ 200 operation on their 4 times daily service from
Dusseldorf - it is currently planned to revert back to a
Canadair CRj 700 in early January 2009 - TBC!
.
+ Lufthansa will be making regular use of Canadair CRJ 900's
on their Munich service in the run up to Christmas
.
Later in the month sees the return of easyJet and the
start of the new Turkish Airlines service to Istanbul
- more information on these and other schedule changes
over Christmas and the New Year in due course
.

FedEx are increasing their feeder services to Paris CDG
The start of September 2008 sees a number of schedule
changes at Birmingham Airport -
.
+ easyJet - Geneva service reduces to three times weekly
overthe next few weeks
.
+ FedEx - a second ATR 42 feeder service to their hub at
Paris CDG startson Monday 1 September 2008
.
+ flybe - additional Embraer 195 is based from Tuesday,
2 September 2008 - services to Milan Malpensa,
Paris CDG and Dusseldorf upgraded
.
+ Lufthansa - the Hamburg service has now ceased
- from Monday 1 September 2008 Dusseldorf become
4 times daily Canadair CRJ 700 service
.
+ Norwegian - the service from Warsaw has now ceased
.
+ SkyEurope will be ceasing their Bratislava service - the last
flight is planned to operate on Sunday 28 September 2008
.

Lufthansa to upgrade Birmingham to Dusseldorf and drop Hamburg service

Lufthansa will be upgrading their four times daily Birmingham
to Dusseldorf service to a Canadair RJ700 operation with effect
from Monday 1 September 2008
.
Their new Hamburg service, which only started on Monday
5 May 2008, will however cease on Saturday 30 August 2008
.
The updated Dusseldorf schedule effective from 1 September
2008 is setout below:

Lufthansa launch new service to Hamburg

Lufthansa’s new service between Birmingham and Hamburg
got off to a flying start with a party atmosphere welcoming
passengers as the check-in desks opened on Monday 5 May 2008
.
Marc Watkins, Birmingham International Airport, Kate Tranter
- Lufthansa, Mrs Jennifer Dienst and Claudia Cain - Lufthansa
celebrated the start of this new route
.
Mrs Jennifer Dienst was one of the lucky passengers on the
inaugural flight and was presented with champagne and flight
tickets for anywhere on the Lufthansa network from Birmingham
.
Peter Vella, Business Development Director said: "This new route
to Hamburg extends Lufthansa’s portfolio, which has operated from
Birmingham for over 20 years and complements its existing routes
to Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich"
.
