Updated - flybe Embraer 175 now entering service from Birmingham Airport in July 2011

As a result of production delays following the Japanese
earthquake the first flybe Embraer 175 is not now due to
be delivered until early July 2011 - the first service to
BHX is now planned for Monday 18 July 2011
- subject to final confirmation!!

flybe have revised their schedules for the introduction
into service of their new Embraer 175 at Birmingham....
.
.... from Monday 4 July 2011 three of their daily weekday
Glasgow - Birmingham services are now showing as being
operated by an "E75" - the Embraer 175
.
flybe announced in July 2010 that they had placed a firm
order for 35 of the 88 seat version of Embraer's E series
regional aircraft - the Embraer 175 - with deliveries
commencing in summer 2011
.
flybe already operate 14 Embraer 195's - the 118 seat
version of the E series aircraft
.

May 2011 passenger figures

Birmingham Airport handled 778,849 passengers during

May 2011 - a fall of 1.3% on the previous year

.

The month saw the formal opening of the "One Terminal"
development on Friday 13 May 2011 but traffic levels remained
challenging despite the start of the main summer "IT" season
.

During May significant growth was achieved on

scheduled flights to destinations such as -

Almeria 114.3%, Fuertventura 90.6%, Malta 38.6%,
Toronto 35.0%, Milan 30.7%, Hannover 27.6%,
Lyon 23.0% and Londonderry 21.8%

.
Charter traffic which experience growth included -

Austria 17.0%, Italy 16.8% and Jamaica 16.2%

.
Scheduled traffic accounted for 76.7% of the total

passenger traffic in March whilst charter passengers

made up the remaining 23.3%
