Birmingham Airport team proves big hit at community event in Sheldon Country Park

Members of Birmingham Airport’s Community and Environment
teams landed at Sheldon Country Parkon Sunday 27th July 2008
to take part in the ever-popular annual fair
With temperatures soaring, the Airport team welcomed
over 400 visitors to their stall, giving local residents the
chance to find out more about the Airport’s community
and environment initiatives, as well as the opportunity
to enter a number of competitions and giveaways
.
This is the first time the Airport has taken its place at the
event, but with the day judged an overwhelming success,
the team is already laying plans for next year’s fair where
information regarding employment opportunities will be
just one of a number of features available to visitors.
Birmingham Airport’s Community Affairs Manager,
Andy Holding, says, "As an airport we are committed
to reinforcing our strong links with the local community
and events such as the one held at Sheldon Country Park
are integral to this. It’s always great to go out into the
community and find out what concerns or questions
people have, and there is certainly a lot to update them on"
.
"At the start of June we launched our Community Outreach
programme which sees members of the Community and
Environment teams visit various locations near to the Airport
to speak to local residents. These open sessions have already
proved popular with people wishing to find out more about
what is going on at the Airport and how they can get involved
with the various other community initiatives we have going on"
.
