July 2014 passengers at Birmingham Airport‏‏‏‏‏‏

Birmingham Airport handled 1,051,052 passengers during July 2014
- an increase of 4.6% on the previous year which makes the month
the "busiest July" ever at BHX

This is yet another excellent result - the second busiest month in
the airport's history and the fourth consecutive month of record
passenger numbers....

.... based on current trends August should be the busiest month ever
at Birmingham Airport and the first to exceed 1.1 million passengers!

Paul Kehoe, Birmingham Airport’s CEO, said: "July was a historic month
for us. Not only did we achieve such great passenger numbers, we also
celebrated our 75th anniversary and saw the first ever flight from China
to a non-London airport arrive, and later depart on our newly extended
runway to make its five thousand mile return journey to Beijing"

In addition to the China Southern Airlines Airbus A330 charter flights to
Beijing long haul routes again performed well - up 7.7% in the month -
with Air India recently announcing that their Boeing 787 "dreamliner"
service to Amritsar and Delhi will go daily from November 2014

The summer has also seen new routes by Aegean Airlines to Athens,
flybe to Alicante, Bordeaux, Cologne, Florence, Ibiza, Newquay, Palma,
Porto, Reykjavik and Toulouse and Monarch to Hurghada, Egypt

The busiest month in Birmingham Airport's history was
August 2008 when it handled 1,080,278 passengers


During July significant growth was achieved
on scheduled flights to destinations such as -
Toulouse 257.5%, Milan 78.6%, Dubrovnik 75.2%,
Shannon 58.9%, Copenhagen 47.7%, Jersey 47.1%,
Hannover 48.5%, Tenerife 30.3%,Frankfurt 11.5%,
Dublin 6.1%, Paris 4.6% and Dubai 1.0% 


Charter traffic which experience growth included -
Italy 31.9%, Portugal 21.7% and Cyprus 4.9%

Scheduled traffic accounted for 77.1% of the total
passenger traffic in July whilst charter passengers
made up the remaining 22.9%
