flybe to increase Belfast City service, base second Embraer 175 at Birmingham

flybe are expanding their summer 2012 schedule
from Birmingham in response to the announcement
that bmibaby will be ceasing operations
bmibaby cease Birmingham-Belfast City on Sunday
10 June 2012 - from the following day flybe will be
upgrading their Belfast service to a mostly jet
operation with a basic schedules of 7 Embraer 195
flights daily on weekdays
While flybe earlier announced their intention to replace
bmibaby on a number of routes from East Midlands a lack
of aircraft availability means these routes cannot start
until mid September 2012....
.... to compensate for the shortfall in capacity from the
Midlands to Edinburgh and Glasgow with effect from
Monday 11 June 2012 flybe will also be increasing
capacity on these routes from Birmingham
As part of the changes flybe will be basing a second
Embraer 175 - "E75" - at Birmingham with G-FBJF currently
expected to be delivered direct to BHX at the end of this week
This second E75 will mainly be used on Birmingham-Glasgow
but as a result of a much tighter schedule E75's will be also
be operating ex BHX to Avignon, Belfast City and Bergerac
in addition to Dusseldorf, Edinburgh and Paris which
already have regular E75 service. They will also be
operating a weekly E75 IT flight to Salzburg
On the downside from Monday 11 June 2012 the
frequency on the new Birmingham - Waterford
service drops from daily to 5 times a week
